With spring in the air and golfing on our minds let’s get this year off to a good start by not overlooking the fundamentals. Undoubtedly the most terrible mistake I see in peoples’ golfing swing isn’t in their golfing swing itself. More frequently than not the mistakes occur before the swing even starts. The 1st mistake is made in how the golfer holds the golfing club. After the next mistake sometimes comes in with how they face up to the ball.

Then after having 2 strikes against them, they then complete the job of making it virtually impossible to hit a good golfing shot by wrongly lining up to their intended target. Naturally, after hitting many (potentially hundred) balls with only a minute few being what they think is sufficient the beat annoyed golfer asks what am I doing wrong with my swing? In reality, let’s be even more reliable here; the left hand grip on the club. Oh sure there’s way more than just the grip including the previously mentioned posture and alignment. But there’s a fixed amount typing I am able to do at a previous time so let’s stay with the grip for this communication. The position of your club face is significantly influenced by your grip. And this is particularly true as your club face enters the impact area and contacts the ball. Definitely there’s a selection of golf swing peccadillo’s that may happen that will cause those sad golfing shots. You know the ones I am talking about: the banana ball, the smothered hook, skied, skulled, and chili dipped. Ok, I can stop If you can stop making an attempt to correct your golf swing by in constantly hitting ball after ball trying to make each physical adjustment known to occupy ( and some that are not ) in your golfing swing itself and start by employing a basically sound grip. So you are going to continue on with me great. Let’s rap about the left hand (right handed golfers) first and most important. The left had should come in touch with the grip of the club in such a way the grip cuts a diagonal across the center of the left hand from the crook in the index finger down and across to the bottom right pad of the left hand. When you close your left hand, your club should be held in first to your fingers then your palm.

The key that you look for out of your left hand grip is kind of straightforward. As you address your ball and look down, you need to only see 2 knuckles of your left hand. As an instructor standing without delay across from you, I too should only see the same. If I do not see Precisely 2 knuckles of your left hand then we take a step backwards and re-grip till we get it right. And do not attempt to cheat and re-grip club just as you start to take the golfing club away and into your back swing. I actually haven’t given you that much to recollect here. But seriously golfers, resign yourself to go thru a fast, short tick list before you start the journey we call the golfing swing. A correct grip will feel ungainly to you especially if your grip has been way off.

Know that it’s the proper way to hold the club. Piece by piece let’s establish the foundation for a good swing.
